"Ausencia" is an autobiographical project, or perhaps transbiographical, insofar as it approaches from the author's own experience the way in which we inherit patterns of dealing with pain between generations, in this case, grandmother, mother and daughter. It embodies a process of personal reflection where memory, self-awareness and healing are connected. The series tries to capture through self-portrait the observation of itself, reproducing situations in which as a child her mother was also seen and this mother lived the same with hers. This awareness leads to the search to break with these patterns, as part of a learning among women of a family. It is called Absence from a triple perspective, one has to do with the absence of another, which is absent and produces pain; the second has to do with the gaze of a girl looking at her absent mother, immersed in her sadness; and the third is the consciousness of being absent from her own life.
The series is part of a larger project in progress, autobiographical in nature and related to family memory, gender, pain and healing. The series consists of 9 photographs in which, in addition to self-portraits, photographs are included of elements that symbolically refer to identity.
